Reasons clients come to ME as a therapist for deep feelers
I wanted to share a few common things I hear as reasons people find me for therapy! There are so many wonderful therapists out there, and it’s so important to find one who addresses your unique needs and goals. So here are some things that usually make me the right therapist for you:
“I’ve been in therapy before and it hasn’t worked”
Almost all of my clients have tried some therapy before, most of them tell me that it wasn’t enough. Some approaches to therapy can feel like bandaids on wounds. They feel like they need something different, or a deeper approach to true healing. EMDR and art therapy are both amazing ways to dig deeper and get that more mind-body level of healing.
“I’ve always felt things on a deeper level than others”
This is something I hear a lot in my work with deep feelers! Deep feelers, or highly sensitive people, report a higher level of emotional intensity than other people. This can often lead to criticism or even self-judgement, perhaps even doubting your own feelings. Sometimes we don’t know how to process or express those emotions, but in our work together we can work on giving those feelings some space.
“I’m feeling really stuck in my life right now”
YES! Getting unstuck can be such a challenge, and something that might need a deeper therapeutic approach! In the therapy space, I really value getting to the bottom of patterns of behavior, moods, and past experiences. I’ll support you in doing the deep dive into what’s really going on underneath.
“I haven’t felt seen or heard in my relationships”
This is a really common thing that I hear from my clients! Deep feelers crave validation and emotional support. We want to know that we are understood and truly valued by the most important people in our life, because we care so deeply about them. Part of my role as a therapist is to ensure that my clients are feeling understood, by their people and by me.
