What is a consult call?
A consult call (or intro call) is a time for you, the client to connect with me, the therapist! This is a great first step to take if you’re considering working with me for therapy, or even considering therapy in general. It’s a time for us to talk to determine if we’re going to be a good match when it comes to your therapy experience.
How does a consult call work?
A consult call goes both ways, we are both learning and trying to assess if this is a good match. For you, it’s a good chance to hear my voice and my energy, and to better understand what my therapeutic approaches are and how they might help you. For example, if you’re looking for someone who prioritizes the relationship between therapist and client, and who utilizes therapeutic approaches that help you dive deep, then I might be a good fit for you! If you’re looking for someone who works with perfectionists, people-pleasers, deep feelers, folks with chronic illness, teens and adults with trauma, then I might be a good fit for you! On the other hand, if you’re looking for someone who specializes in addiction, eating disorders, or psychosis; or someone who specializes in straight-up CBT with a highly clinical or diagnositc approach, I most likely will not be a good fit. This call is also a good way for me to understand your goals and expectations, and to make sure you’re not bringing something big to therapy that’s totally outside of my expertise or experience. I truly believe every therapist-client relationship needs to be a good match, and if I don’t believe I’ll be the right fit for you, I’ll help you find someone who is!
How long will a consult call be?
Our call will most likely last around 15-20 minutes. This is usually enough time for us to discuss your hopes and goals, see if we’d be a good fit, and to talk about scheduling and intake procedures. Anything more in-depth will be discussed during our intake session which will be 50-55 minutes.
How much does a consult call cost?
A consult call is free! I don’t want you to pay for treatment until we’ve both evaluated and agreed that it will be the right path for us to start working together. Even after a call, you can take your time and consider the decision to get started with therapy. You’re also welcome to email or text me any questions that might arise after the conclusion of our initial conversation.
